This free event is primarily intended for professionals in the field and will be held at the Government premises in Helsinki. You are welcome to join us for insightful discussions on current topics!
The National MSP Day will take place in Helsinki on 25 November 2025, and the WATERWAYS project will be prominently featured! The preliminary program consists of three thematic sessions:
– Security of supply in maritime industries and comprehensive security of marine areas
– Russia’s war and environmental risks in the marine area
– Forum of good practices: Resilience in coastal and archipelago regions
The WATERWAYS and CoWup projects, both part of the STN WAWE program, jointly organize session 2. The session will be chaired by Annukka Lehikoinen (Merikotka) and Johannes Jauhiainen (Demos Helsinki). The session will begin with Veli-Pekka Tynkkynen (University of Helsinki) taking the floor. Tynkkynen will be followed by Henrik Ringbom (Åbo Akademi) with the topic of the legal frameworks of the Baltic Sea and their limitations in the context of shadow fleets and sabotage of underwater infrastructure, and Jukka-Pekka Jalkanen (Finnish Meteorological Institute) on modeling maritime traffic and the challenges posed by Russia’s war and the environmental risks in the maritime area.
